I had a great journey in the water towns of Hangzhou and Wuzhen! As a German solo traveler with a strong interest in tea, this trip exceeded my expectations and provided a perfect blend of cultural immersion, tea appreciation, and unforgettable experiences.

Starting from Hangzhou, I embarked on a scenic West Lake cruise with breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere. Watching fish in the flower pond is a pleasant introduction to the local aquatic life in Hangzhou. Later, I visited Guo Garden, where I appreciated the traditional Chinese architecture located in the tranquil garden.

The most wonderful time I spent in Hangzhou was undoubtedly at the China Tea Museum. Here, I immersed myself in the rich history and art of tea production. I also played a small game with tour guide Bonnie to guess the names of items by smelling them. The taste of tea leaves fascinated me greatly, and this experience was not only enjoyable, but also invaluable for my upcoming bachelor's thesis on tea.

Visiting Leifeng Pagoda offers a panoramic view of Hangzhou, adding a touch of historical grandeur to my exploration. Exploring Lingyin Temple gave me a deep understanding of ancient Chinese traditions and spiritual practices, while strolling along the bamboo forest path in Yunqi immersed me in the peaceful embrace of nature.

After transitioning to the water town of Wuzhen, I continued to explore and visited the Jiangnan Baibed Museum and Folk Museum, gaining a deeper understanding of local customs and habits, and enriching my understanding of Wuzhen's cultural heritage. At the Sanbai Wine Studio, I personally experienced the traditional methods and flavors of this local specialty.

One highlight of my visit to the water town of Wuzhen was the charming shadow puppetry. This complex shadow puppetry combines humor and drama, mesmerizingly showcasing cultural heritage and allowing me to travel through local legends and historical stories.

Throughout my journey, the knowledgeable tour guide Bonnie and friendly driver enhanced my experience through their insights into local history and culture. Their guidance not only made each destination more meaningful, but also allowed me to fully appreciate the beauty and significance of the water towns in Hangzhou and Wuzhen.

Bonnie and May made my journey through Hangzhou and Wuzhen truly exceptional. Bonnie's swift response to my inquiry and her ability to organize our itinerary within 24 hours were impressive. She accommodated my changes without any hassle, ensuring everything was set for a seamless experience. May, our guide for the day, greeted me warmly and efficiently handled my hotel check-in before we embarked on our adventure. The day began with a serene boat cruise on West Lake, where the picturesque scenery and pleasant weather made for a perfect start. May's hospitality was outstanding—she not only guided us through the iconic spots around West Lake but also went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and enjoyment throughout the day. Her attention to detail, from providing snacks to applying bug repellent, showed her dedication to making our experience memorable. A highlight of the day was experiencing the traditional shadow puppetry in Wuzhen. May's enthusiasm and willingness to capture moments on camera, despite my initial hesitation, resulted in cherished memories. I also want to acknowledge our driver, whose safe driving and kindness, like allowing me to charge my phone in the car, added to the overall comfort of the trip.
In summary, thanks to Bonnie's organization and May's exceptional hospitality, my visit to Hangzhou and Wuzhen was filled with beautiful sights, cultural insights, and delightful surprises. It was an unforgettable journey that I would recommend to anyone looking to explore these fascinating destinations.

Hangzhou Private Tour was the most efficient travel company that I contacted before our trip from Australia to China.
His summation of our expectations and costing was done promptly without any trouble. We were met at our hotel daily by an extremely polite fluently English speaking guide David. Three full days were organised the first day, Lingyin Temple, Dragon Well Tea Plantation and Chenghuang Pavilion. The next day Grand canal,a couple of beautiful gardens and the China national tea museum. We followed that the next day with a relaxing day on the canals at Wuzhen. On the fourth day Tylor put us un the fast train to Shanghai. A faultless performance in organisation skills by Hangzhou Private Tours. Overall, we loved our experience with this great team and will recommend you to other travelers. Thank you for your services.

I custom designed my itinerary, hiring a private driver to take me and my husband from Shanghai to Wuzhen for a day's visit and then to Hangzhou where we would stay for 3 nights. We would spend the first day touring West Lake by ourselves and then the next day being driven around by our private driver to my handpicked destinations as well as other tourist hotspots.

I enquired online but many tour companies ignored my custom request and simply replied with a set itinerary and ambiguous charges. Hangzhou Private Tour was not only the one who responded the quickest, but also the one who was totally accommodating and quoted on exactly what I wanted. The quote I was given was very reasonable so I booked with his company. He sent me a confirmation promptly and also provided me with the name and contact numbers of my driver/guide.

Our tour guide David was an excellent guide and the bonus was that he was a food enthusiast and had tried most of the restaurants in Hangzhou. He took us to excellent restaurants, including ones known only to the locals. The food was heavenly and the bill ended up cheaper than breakfast at our hotel!

Also there were no "shopping" stops except when I specifically asked him to take me to a Long Jing tea house to buy some Dragon Well Tea. The tea I got was superb!

Scenery, food, activities etc. are one thing and getting to know local people is another for enjoying your trip. Tommy, very charming young man who guided me through Hangzhou, gave me another reason to feel closer to Chinese people. So sincere and energetic, I had no time to get bored or be drifted away with my own thoughts. He was also mature enough to keep pace with me instead of stuffing me with all the guide material. Also impressed that his company kept he on the field updated with real time information that we could flexibly modified our itinerary instead of going to temple with two buildings closed down for construction. I visited the hightlights in Hangzhou and Wuzhen water town. I do highly recommend Wuzhen if you want to see the original china.

The whole team of Hangzhou Private Tour is excellent. We were able to see many great sights in beautiful Hangzhou, such as the LeiFeng pagoda and the LingYin temple. The water town of Wuzhen was not something I would have gone to myself but I was so glad it was part of the tour- it was incredible. Guides spoke good English and drivers were good- took out a lot of stress of planning transport/entrance tickets/large meals, etc. We were able to see many sights and transport picked us up from our lodging and dropped us either back there or at other cool areas of the city we explored on our own (eg silk market). Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to get to know the history and sights in this very cool part of China.

I have nothing but great things to say about our trip to Hangzhou. The reservation process was painless, they answered any and all questions thoroughly and promptly. The hotel was beautiful; the staff there was also extremely helpful. Things went smoothly and our guide Sharon was amazing! She made the trip even better than I could have expected. Her English was perfect, she told her own personal stories which added a nice touch, let us see a side of China we would not be able to see otherwise. I would definitely book another tour with Hangzhou Private Tour in the future!

We travel from US and speak nothing chinese which is generally quite scary. However, we would like to give full marks to China Private Tour for having organised an excellent three days hangzhou tour package. The first day, our tour guide and driver were there at our hotel lobby to receive us at the appointed time , with a placard in hand. For the next two days, we were taken around a number of places in Hangzhou and Wuzhen, each extolling history and cultural legacy of an ancient civilization in its full glory. Nancy, who was our guide during the trip, was quite proficient in English, and ready to answer all our queries to the best of her knowledge and capabilities. We really enjoyed the varied aspects of Chinese culture, be it different historical buildings, alluring markets, soothing tea ceremony or luxurious silk motifs...

Hangzhou is a beautiful town, but it remains hard to grasp for foreigners (especially westerners I guess). Taking a private tour package really makes a difference.

Our guide, Bonny, was a very knowledgeable and pleasant person. Thanks to her, we could discover magnificent places around the lake (like Fei Lai Feng), take a boat tour, visit the tea plantations, get some lunch at the farmers' house, discover Wuzhen, etc. These are wonderful memories.

She also brought us to high quality places (with correct prices) to buy silk and green tea.

The tour fee includes a car and a driver, which is very handy.
