How to Travel from Hangzhou to Huangshan

1. Hangzhou - Huangshan High Speed Train
Two pairs of high speed G trains are operated between Hangzhou East Railway Station and Huangshan North Railway Station, which travel for 3-3.5 hours.The distance is 515 kilometers (320 miles). Normal speed trains are not in service now. The Hangzhou - Huangshan High Speed Train brings great convenience to visitors to Yellow Mountain from Hangzhou.Another short-cut high speed railway is under construction; when opened in October of 2018, the travel time will be shorted to about 1.5 hours.  

1).Basic Facts of Hangzhou - Huangshan High Speed Train
Train type: G train, high speed train with a top speed of 300 – 350 km/h, CRH trains.
Seat class: 1st, 2nd and business class
Travel time one-way: 3hrs 09mins
Ticket price one-way: CNY388.5/first cls seat, CNY 231/second cls seat; CNY 729/business cls seat.

2).Hangzhou East Railway Station(also called Hangzhou Dong)
Location: No. 2, Quanfuqiao Road, Jianggan District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province (????????185? ????); driving about 7km to the downtown.

Transportation: You could take the airport shuttle bus Hangzhou East Railway Station Line to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport for about 1 hour. Also, you could take Hangzhou Metro Line 1 and bus 318 to the West Lake, take Line 1 and bus No. 7 to Lingyin Temple, take Metro Line 1 to Hefang Street, take Metro Line 1 and bus No. 12/42/133 to China National Silk Museum, etc. If you take a taxi or drive, it would take about 35 minutes to Liuhe Pagoda, 1 hour to Meijiawu Longjing Tea Plantation, 50 minutes to China National Tea Museum, 1 hour to Xixi National Wetland Park, about 1.5 hours to Wuzhen Water Town and Xitang Water Town, etc. Moreover, you could take a long distance coach from the Coach Station at Hangzhou East Station to Wuzhen for about 2 hours. Coaches to Xitang are available there as well.

3). Huangshan North Railway Station(also called Huangshan Bei)
Location: Hongcun Avenue, Xixinan Town, Tunxi District, Huangshan City, Anhun Province (????????????????? ????); driving about 17km to the downtown.

Transportation: From Huangshan North Railway Station, you can take the coach at Huanhshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub behind Huangshan Borth Railway Station to Mount Huang, Hongcun Ancient Village, Xidi Ancient Village, Tangyue Scenic Area, Chengkan, etc. It needs about 55 minutes to drive to Mount Huang Scenic Area, about 75 minutes to Hongcun Ancient Village, about 1 hour to Xidi Ancient Village, and about 30 minutes to Hu Kaiwen Ink-stick Factory, etc.

5).Upcoming New Hangzhou Huangshan High Speed Railway to Open in Oct., 2018
Good news for you! There is going to be a new railway between Hangzhou and Huangshan cities in the end of June, 2018, which is named Hangzhou Huangshan High Speed Railway.The designed running speed is 250 km/h (155 mph). It is scheduled to open in October, 2018, by when Hangzhou and Huangshan can be reached within about 1.5 hours.Passing Fuyang (??), Tonglu (??), Jiande (??), Chunan (??), Sanyang (??), Jixi (??), and Shexian (??).In this case, a day tour between West Lake and Yellow Mountain will become possible.

2.From Hangzhou to Huangshan By Bus
Passengers can also travel between the two cities by long-distance bus. Duration is about 3 hours and ticket fare is approximately CNY100 per person. It costs less compared with high speed trains, but the bus tickets are hard to be purchased in advance and the leg space is limited. Also, the punctuality cannot be guaranteed as coaches can be easily affected by traffic jam or weather.

In contrast, high speed trains provide a wider leg room and facilities onboard are better than those on coaches. They are punctual in most cases, but tickets are always in great demands. Passengers should purchase tickets in advance if planning to travel by bullet In this case, a day tour between West Lake and Yellow Mountain will become possible.

Located on Tian Mu Shan Lu, West Bus Station was opened for use on Oct. 1st, 2002. There are more than 340 buses leaving here daily. In this station, you can take buses to Tonglu, Chun'an, Xin'anjiang, Longyou, Quzhou, Jiangshan, Changshan and Kaihua in Zhejiang Province. For Anhui Province, you can find buses to Shexian, Tunxi and Mt. Huangshan. For destinations in Jiangxi Province, you can find buses to Nanchang, Jingdezhen, Shangrao, Jiujiang, Boyang and Yushan. And buses to Wuhan, Hubei Province can also be found here.

Huangshan Bus Station (??????) is also known as Tunxi Bus Station. Most buses linking major cities in China stop there. Buses from the station to Huangshan Scenic Area depart every five minutes at 16 CNY/person, taking about an hour and a half, or iff the bus uses the highway it takes only an hour at 18 CNY. They operate 06:30–17:30. Once at the scenic area, travelers can take the shuttle bus New National Line to the mountain top.

City buses 1, 2, 8, and 9 stop at Huangshan Bus Station and cost 1 yuan.

3).Huangshan Scenic Area Bus Station (Tangkou Town) ????? (??) ???

The station is located at the foot of Huangshan (the Yellow Mountains), and is also called New National Line Transfer Center. This station has direct long-distance buses leaving for Shanghai and major cities of Jiangsu Province and Jiangxi Province. It is 64 km from Huangshan (Tunxi) Bus Station, costing 13 CNY, and taking about an hour. A taxi costs about 100 CNY. At the station National Line shuttle buses and taxis go via Huangshan Gate to the mountain's cable car stations, costing 10 CNY/person.
