I had a great journey in the water towns of Hangzhou and Wuzhen! As a German solo traveler with a strong interest in tea, this trip exceeded my expectations and provided a perfect blend of cultural immersion, tea appreciation, and unforgettable experiences.
Starting from Hangzhou, I embarked on a scenic West Lake cruise with breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere. Watching fish in the flower pond is a pleasant introduction to the local aquatic life in Hangzhou. Later, I visited Guo Garden, where I appreciated the traditional Chinese architecture located in the tranquil garden.
The most wonderful time I spent in Hangzhou was undoubtedly at the China Tea Museum. Here, I immersed myself in the rich history and art of tea production. I also played a small game with tour guide Bonnie to guess the names of items by smelling them. The taste of tea leaves fascinated me greatly, and this experience was not only enjoyable, but also invaluable for my upcoming bachelor's thesis on tea.
Visiting Leifeng Pagoda offers a panoramic view of Hangzhou, adding a touch of historical grandeur to my exploration. Exploring Lingyin Temple gave me a deep understanding of ancient Chinese traditions and spiritual practices, while strolling along the bamboo forest path in Yunqi immersed me in the peaceful embrace of nature.
After transitioning to the water town of Wuzhen, I continued to explore and visited the Jiangnan Baibed Museum and Folk Museum, gaining a deeper understanding of local customs and habits, and enriching my understanding of Wuzhen's cultural heritage. At the Sanbai Wine Studio, I personally experienced the traditional methods and flavors of this local specialty.
One highlight of my visit to the water town of Wuzhen was the charming shadow puppetry. This complex shadow puppetry combines humor and drama, mesmerizingly showcasing cultural heritage and allowing me to travel through local legends and historical stories.
Throughout my journey, the knowledgeable tour guide Bonnie and friendly driver enhanced my experience through their insights into local history and culture. Their guidance not only made each destination more meaningful, but also allowed me to fully appreciate the beauty and significance of the water towns in Hangzhou and Wuzhen.

After finishing a business trip, I booked a two-day trip to Hangzhou. As a first-time visitor to Hangzhou, it was a completely different and wonderful experience than before!
The booking process is seamlessly connected, with clear communication at every step. Even before entering Hangzhou, I felt at ease and well-informed. After arriving, I was warmly welcomed by Iris, who was an outstanding tour guide for my trip. From the beginning, Iris exuded enthusiasm and professionalism, making me immediately feel relaxed in this unfamiliar city.
Our first day was filled with unforgettable experiences. Iris skillfully guided me through the peaceful West Lake cruise, charming flower pond for fish watching, tranquil Guo Garden, and awe inspiring Lingyin Temple. However, it was the visit to Meijiawu Tea Plantation that left a deep impression on me, with its beautiful scenery and profound cultural heritage. The bamboo forest path in Yunqi is another highlight, providing people with a peaceful natural journey.
At the end of the day, although I was physically tired, I gained a new understanding and deep appreciation of Hangzhou's cultural heritage, and felt very uplifted spiritually. Iris's rich information and captivating storytelling truly enrich the experience.
The next day, I began to explore the vibrant morning wet market, and Iris introduced me to the local cuisine and bustling market life. Then, we embarked on a historical journey along the Grand Canal and Gongcheng Bridge, followed by a visit to the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Street, where Iris cleverly explained the historical significance of the area.
The most inspiring stop was the Hu Qingyutang Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum, where Iris shared her fascinating insights into traditional therapies. Visiting the City God Pavilion is the perfect ending to my trip to Hangzhou. As the sun began to set, the sky was painted in shades of orange and pink, and the panoramic view from the pavilion was simply breathtaking. From this advantageous location, I can see the urban landscape extending in front of me, with Hangzhou's iconic landmarks clearly outlined under the colorful sky.
In short, this two-day trip was worth it. I strongly recommend Iris and her team because they provide excellent service and warm hospitality. They really made my visit to Hangzhou unforgettable, and I am deeply grateful for the memories they created.
