Our trip to China was absolutely amazing! We’re a family of five from Singapore, and we were super excited to visit Hangzhou, Wuzhen, and Suzhou—places known as “heaven on earth.”

We kicked things off in Hangzhou with a boat cruise on West Lake. The boat ride was so relaxing, with a gentle breeze and smooth sailing that had us all unwinding right away. The kids were especially thrilled with the ride, and the view of the lake and its surroundings was like something out of a storybook. Wandering around the Flower Pond, watching colorful koi fish swim, was another highlight that we all enjoyed.

Next, we explored Guo Garden and the Meijiawu Tea Plantation. Guo Garden’s classical design was a perfect example of traditional Chinese landscaping. At Meijiawu, we got to see how tea is grown and made, and we even tasted some authentic Longjing tea. The flavors were incredible and gave us a new appreciation for Chinese tea culture. Plus, Hangzhou’s food was fantastic—trying out all the local dishes was a real treat!

On our second day, we checked out more of Hangzhou’s famous spots. Lingyin Temple was so peaceful and gave us a deeper understanding of Chinese Buddhism. The Bamboo-lined Path at Yunqi was a beautiful escape from the city hustle. The Six Harmonies Pagoda offered stunning views from the top, and walking around Hefang Street, with its delicious snacks and cool crafts, was a blast.

Then we made our way to Wuzhen. This water town’s old-world charm and laid-back vibe were perfect for a relaxing visit. The shadow puppet show was a big hit with the kids—they loved the colorful puppets and the engaging story. As we settled into our seats in the intimate theater, the soft glow of the lanterns set a magical atmosphere. The shadow puppets, made from intricately carved leather, danced gracefully against the illuminated screen. Each puppet had vibrant colors and elaborate details that made the characters come alive. The performers skillfully manipulated the puppets with rods, creating fluid movements that told enchanting stories from ancient Chinese folklore. The narration and traditional music added layers of emotion, making the experience captivating for both kids and adults. We also stopped by the Jiangnan Hundred Beds Museum and the Folk Custom Museum, which were great for learning about local traditions and crafts.

The best part was taking the high-speed train from Wuzhen to Suzhou. The business class seats were super comfy, and the ride was fast, with beautiful countryside views passing by. It was a smooth and enjoyable trip.

Once we got to Suzhou, we were blown away by the gardens. Lion Grove Garden and Master of the Nets Garden were stunning examples of classical Chinese garden design.

In Suzhou, the gardens were absolutely mesmerizing. At Lion Grove Garden, we wandered through a labyrinth of fantastically shaped rock formations, some resembling lions and others forming hidden pathways and secluded courtyards. The design was a marvel of creativity, offering delightful surprises around every corner. Master of the Nets Garden, on the other hand, was a masterpiece of harmony and elegance. The garden’s layout featured a delicate balance of water features, pavilions, and rock formations, creating a serene retreat where every element seemed perfectly placed to evoke tranquility.

We also visited the Panmen Scenic Area, where the ancient city walls and water gates gave us a glimpse into Suzhou’s historical defenses. Hanshan Temple’s bell tower echoed through the surrounding landscape, creating a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection. Tiger Hill, with its leaning pagoda and historical significance, offered panoramic views and a fascinating look at Suzhou’s past. We also explored the Hanshan Temple, and Tiger Hill, which gave us a deeper look into Suzhou’s history and culture.

Overall, this trip to China was a fantastic experience. We got to see the beautiful sights of Hangzhou, Wuzhen, and Suzhou, and dive into China’s rich history and traditions. From the comfy high-speed train ride to the delicious food, gorgeous gardens, and memorable cultural experiences, everything was perfect. We’re thrilled with this trip and can’t wait to explore more of China’s wonders in the future!
